Our Story at Yeowarra
The mission of our family-owned and operated business is to produce
Australia’s highest-quality Christmas trees. The land is everything to us
because it makes what we do possible. One could say that our roots run
deep – in more ways than one.
Our History
1840s
In the 1840s, this place was a cattle farm and
orchard. Back then, they say, passersby would pluck
ripe apples straight from the trees.
1870s
The homestead was built from bluestone quarried
on the property, hand-built by Italian stonemasons.
The landscape around it was designed by William Guilfoile,
the architect behind the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne.
1974
The McMahon family began calling Yeowarra home.
1986
The next generation of McMahons inherit the land,
marking a new chapter with the planting of Christmas trees.
2005
Genetic selection reaches a pivotal point
to allow the growth of the Yeowarra trees we know today.
2012
Yeowarra trees begin to be shipped beyond Victoria,
making their way across the country. Yeowarra becomes a
main supplier on the east coast.
